Crawford and Jones explain how the measurement and calibration of the stimulus is accomplished by comparing it with a standard source using a thermopile, bolometer, photocell or other light sensitive device. They explore the knowledge of photometric and radiometric relations needed to do this properly. In the last chapter Crawford and Granger describe several complete systems taken from the literature. Most of these descriptions are sketchy but well referenced. The text is supplemented with good illustrations and excellent tables of properties of sources.
